GachaMeister is operated by Alex Smith, who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

This policy covers personal information handled in connection with the GachaMeister website and its editorial activities.

2. What Information Do We Handle?

Information you send us

If you email GachaMeister, we receive the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, email address, message, relevant page links, documents, screenshots or other evidence.

We may also keep the correspondence and related follow-up needed to understand and respond to your enquiry, correction or right-of-reply request.

Please avoid sending passwords, recovery codes, full payment-card details, unnecessary identity documents, or sensitive information.

Where possible, redact unrelated personal information from evidence before sending it.

Information created when you visit the website

As with most websites, requests to GachaMeister's hosting and security services can involve technical data like your IP address, the date and time of a request, the page or resource requested, browser and device details, referral information where provided by your browser, and information relevant to detecting misuse or security threats. This information may appear in server, delivery or security logs.

Some editorial images or other resources may be served from external domains. When your browser requests a resource from another provider, that provider may receive the technical information normally sent with the request, including your IP address and, depending on browser settings, referral details.

Editorial, research and evidence information

Our work sometimes involves information about identifiable people, including business representatives, collectors, sellers, platform staff and people who contact us about coverage.

We may collect names, professional roles, statements, publicly available records, correspondence, screenshots, transaction or support evidence, and other material relevant to checking a claim or investigating a correction.

This material can come from you, third-party correspondence, official or public sources, company websites and terms, and our own documented research or testing, depending on the context in question.

We will always distinguish private evidence from information suitable for publication and, where appropriate, we may also choose to redact personal details and identifiable information.

GachaMeister does not currently provide reader accounts, public comments or community profiles, and we do not take payment from readers or process their purchases through the website.

3. Why Do We Use Personal Information?

We use the information described above to keep the website operating and secure; detect abuse and troubleshoot problems; read and answer correspondence; investigate factual challenges and privacy requests; research, verify and correct editorial material; maintain supporting evidence; and meet legal obligations or handle legal claims where necessary.

Where applicable privacy law requires a lawful basis, the basis depends on the activity in question.

Our legitimate interests include operating a secure and reliable editorial website, communicating with people who contact us, and producing accurate, evidence-backed reporting.

We may also process information to comply with a legal obligation or, where required for a particular activity, with your consent. Editorial processing and any sensitive information are assessed in light of the rules that apply to the specific material and circumstances.

Please remember that providing personal information in an email is entirely voluntary. We do, however, require a working reply address and enough information about the issue to be able to respond to you effectively.

We do not use correspondence or evidence submissions to add you to a marketing list.

4. Cookies, Storage and Tracking

GachaMeister's hosting and security infrastructure may use cookies or similar browser-storage technologies when needed to deliver or protect the website, for example during a security check. The technologies actually used can depend on the services and security features activated for a particular request.

At present, GachaMeister does not use Google Analytics 4, advertising or remarketing trackers, or a newsletter signup service. We do not use Google Signals or run behavioural advertising on the site.

You can usually inspect, block or delete cookies using your browser settings. Blocking a cookie needed for security or basic site operation may affect your access. Before introducing optional analytics or marketing technologies, we will update the relevant privacy information and put in place any consent choices required by applicable law.

5. Who Handles or Receives Information?

We use Hostinger for website hosting, website delivery and security features, and the contact email service. Depending on the service used, these providers may handle connection information, requests, relevant logs and other technical data needed to provide or protect the website. Their processing roles and data handling differ by service and purpose.

We also use Google Drive and Google Docs for internal project and editorial-research records, alongside private working files. Correspondence or research material may therefore be stored or processed through those services when relevant to our work. Access to private records is limited according to their purpose.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate a complaint, obtain appropriate professional assistance, meet a legal requirement, or establish, exercise or defend legal rights. We do not sell a reader database or provide personal information to advertisers for behavioural targeting.

6. Affiliate Links and Other Websites

GachaMeister may link to card-opening platforms, marketplaces, grading companies, retailers and other third-party websites. Some links may be affiliate or referral links, which means we may receive compensation for a qualifying action.

When you follow a link to another website, that provider can receive information associated with your visit, such as the referring URL or a referral identifier included in the link. Its own privacy policy governs any personal information it collects.

GachaMeister does not control those external websites, and purchases or accounts you create with them are handled by the relevant third party.

7. International Processing

GachaMeister is an international publication, and some of the service providers used for hosting, security, email or research records may process information in more than one country, including outside the country where you live. The relevant transfer rules and safeguards depend on the data, the provider and the law that applies. Where safeguards are required, they must be appropriate to the particular transfer.

8. How Long Do We Keep Information?

We retain personal information according to why it is needed, rather than applying one fixed period to every record. Ordinary enquiries are kept for the time needed to respond, manage relevant follow-up and resolve any related issue.

Editorial evidence may need to be kept longer to verify reporting, document corrections or respond to a dispute. Technical and security information is kept according to operational needs, relevant provider settings and applicable legal requirements.

Where a legal obligation or dispute requires preservation, relevant information may be kept for that purpose. Retention and deletion decisions take account of the type of record, its continuing relevance and the law that applies.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on the law that applies to your information, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion, ask for processing to be restricted, object to certain processing, receive information in a portable format, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Some requests may be subject to legal exceptions, including where information must be kept to meet an obligation or where protected editorial activity or legal claims are involved.

We may need reasonable information to confirm your identity before disclosing or changing personal data. We will assess requests and respond in accordance with the law that applies.

If you are dissatisfied with how a privacy matter is handled, you may also have the right to complain to an appropriate data-protection or privacy authority, depending on the law and your circumstances.

10. Children and Younger Readers

GachaMeister publishes general-interest information about collecting. Although some of the topics may interest younger readers, the website does not currently offer child accounts, public posting features or a service for purchasing collectibles from GachaMeister.

We do not ask readers to create a profile or provide their age. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should not be retained, please contact privacy@gachameister.com.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including handling private correspondence and supporting evidence separately from public website content where appropriate. Hosting, delivery and email providers also have their own security arrangements.

No website, email or storage service can guarantee absolute security.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if our services, providers, data practices or legal obligations change. The date at the top shows the most recent revision. Where a change requires a separate notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide it before introducing the relevant processing.
